These days, more and more people are thinking about home offices: whether to switch over to working from one, how to set one up, how to make one into a stylish space worth spending lots of time in, how to do a home office makeover–you name it!
New York-based content creator and photographer Rachel Norstrom recently moved into a 50s ranch style house that she describes as “with endless amounts of charm, but needing quite a few touch ups.” She and her husband decided to take on the task of makeovers and remodels by themselves. So far, they have tackled their master bedroom as well as the home office.
When it was time to pick out an overhead light for her home office makeover, Rachel reached out to us and said she was interested in a Trade Winds Courtland ceiling light in the natural brass finish. Without further ado, here’s how it looks!
“This room required mainly cosmetic change, so a lot of our budget went to furniture and lighting for this room to really transform it,” Rachel explains. “We primed and painted the walls, ceilings, and trim. Installed a new closet door with new hardware. And brought in all new furniture and lighting. We saved a lot of money by doing this all ourselves.” She says that they spent about $4,000 total.
The room was designed around the round ottoman that is at its center. “I pulled the greys, creams, and golds from it and incorporated them in all of the rest of the furniture as well,” Rachel says. That’s why the Courtland, with its gold finish and white fabric shade, fits like a glove!
It’s the perfect choice!
Check out how the room looked before the makeover in this post.
(We also provided another light to Rachel–stay tuned to see how and where she uses that one!)
