We recently collaborated with Elizabeth of The Clean Eating Couple to help her choose new lighting for a kitchen renovation as well as a new light for the foyer. The chic, black-finished lights we suggested provide the perfect glow for some stunning new spaces—see for yourself!

We were thrilled to help Elizabeth light the home she loves! We also wanted to know more about the kitchen renovation process, where she found style inspiration and how she came to choose the lights she chose, so we decided to ask her all these things—and more. Here are her answers…
What made you decide to renovate your kitchen?
When we bought our home, the kitchen wasn’t my style at all. Being that most of my time is spent in my kitchen, I knew it needed to be a space that I not only loved, but one that felt like it was my own. The kitchen had had some minor updates done to it, but most of it was original from when the house was built in 1980. While we were renovating the rest of the home, it made sense to renovate this too!
After you decided the kitchen needed renovation, how long did the planning phase take?
Honestly…we didn’t plan as much as we probably could have. We started to demo about 5 days after we closed on our house, starting by taking down walls, scraping popcorn off ceilings, and ripping up the tile. We knew that those were things that definitely would be going and figured we could start there and decide the rest as we went on.
As you were planning the reno, how big of a consideration was updating the lights?
Updating the lights was at the top of our list in terms of things we knew we needed to do. The lights in our home were so outdated and downright ugly! While the lights were one of the finishing touches, I knew that they were one of the biggest pieces and that they would help pull together the entire kitchen!
Where did you find lighting inspiration?
I searched a lot on Pinterest for lighting inspiration and scrolled through the LightsOnline site- but I’ll be totally honest, Emma was very helpful. I don’t have a strong eye for design so having help from your team was really so great!
I see you brought additional light into the kitchen with two pendants over the island. Did you add in any other additional lights that weren’t there before?
Yes, we did. We added 4 recessed lights in the kitchen and 4 recessed lights in our dining area. The entire kitchen and dining area was very dark before and needed more light.

How did you find out about LightsOnline?
We did some research online and LightsOnline had the best ratings/reviews, so we chose you!
Why did you choose the lights you picked? How are you liking the lights?
I LOVE the lights! Not only are the beautiful, but they are functional as well! They are perfect for lighting up the entire room, and totally take the kitchen to the next level (especially the pendants over the island, those are my favorite!)
What was the process like working with me to find new lights for your kitchen?
So easy! I don’t have an eye for design, and find it to be a little overwhelming – so being able to send over photos and get feedback on what might fit was a huge help. It made it much less of a daunting task!
Did you get the same lights you were envisioning at the start of the project or something different?
Yes! While I didn’t have super specific lights in my mind, I wanted something modern while also being a little Farmhouse-esque. These are perfect!
How is your renovation going?
Good! We really are in the final stages at this point. We’re touching up paint, finding things to put on the wall and little touches to make it a home! I’m glad all the really hard work is out of the way! Our next project is the outside, fixing our front walkway and getting a patio in the back!
Is there anything else you would like to talk about regarding your kitchen renovation project?
My blog post goes super in depth about everything we did, but I’d just say to be patient.. and ready to spend a lot of money! LOL! Unexpected things come up, and it can be frustrating (and expensive), but in the end, you’ll have a beautiful space!
Since our collaboration, Elizabeth has come back to purchase outdoor lights from us, too. She reports that they have been installed and that they look, in her words, awesome!
Plus, she recently got engaged to Tyler, the other half of the Clean Eating Couple, and some of their engagement photos feature our lights. Congratulations, Elizabeth and Tyler!
