Professional designers know just how important the right lighting is to making a space look its best! That’s why, when DC-based designer Dara Khader was looking for some stylish and glamorous new lights for her home, she turned to us for collaborations.
We’ve actually provided lights for 2 different homes! First, we sent over the Maxim Victoria 6-light linear chandelier in Golden Silver finish for Dara to place in her dining room. Some time later, when she reached out to us to work again, she and her family had moved to a different home, and now she was interested in the Savoy House Bolton 8-light chandelier in Warm Brass finish.
These choices reveal a lot about Dara’s style! She definitely loves gold and brass lighting, she likes lights with a little bit of flashiness and she’s interested in lights with intriguing glass shades.
With all of that aside, let’s check out how the lights look in her previous home and current home!
The Victoria employs cascading rows of what Maxim calls waterfall glass to obscure the lights within, giving off a bright glow without the glare. These fluted shades have a star shape and noticeable texture! The Golden Silver finish adds another touch of texture and tends to read as brass, whether the lights are on or off. Because Victoria is linear, it is ideal for use over things like long rectangular tables, which is exactly how Dara used it in her previous home.
“Simply it’s making a statement and a great focal point in our space,” she said at the time about Victoria’s impact.
Now let’s check out the new light in her current home!
Bolton is a fabulous choice in this bedroom for many reasons. As Dara notes in her post debuting this light, the design creates more depth and height. Bolton uses a hub-and-spoke design with tall shades of clear ribbed glass to draw the eye and create the illusion of extra height. The structured, classically-inspired look also pairs nicely with the other classic and elegant decor touches in the room, like the detailing on the bed sheet and throw pillows.
“[Bolton] took our bedroom into another level,” Dara says. “We definitely love it.”
