The One Room Challenge, held twice a year (in April and October), is always fun to watch. It’s all about the goal of transforming a room in the span of 8 weeks and it’s always great to see what all can be done in such a relatively short timespan.
Home blogger and interior designer DesiDIY joined in the Spring 2021 One Room Challenge as a guest participant. Her main goal was to update the fireplace shelving in her living room, but she also wanted to do an overall living room makeover and change out the lights in her kitchen. Divya reached out to us asking if we would be interested in providing lights for her One Room Challenge and we said yes!
For her living room, we provided a Savoy House Lamar 5-light chandelier in black and brass. For her kitchen, we provided Savoy House Lilly 2-light pendants in matte black. Lamar has a terrific look inspired by Italian midcentury modern lighting and an oh-so-chic black and brass finish. Lilly brings a big dose of industrial style in a fashionable matte black finish.
Divya was glad she chose us since time is of the essence in the One Room Challenge and we’re pretty close by–she’s in North Carolina, we’re in Georgia. “Their shipping is very timely and well packaged to make sure the products are delivered without any damage,” she says on her blog.
Divya finished the kitchen part of our collaboration first, so let’s check that out first.
A fabulous trio! We’d like to note that Divya actually customized these pendants–she was looking for ones in black and brass to match her chandelier, but couldn’t find anything in stock to meet her needs and, again, time is of the essence in ORC! So, she grabbed some spray paint and did it herself, painting the accents and chain in brass.
Black and brass just always looks great together.
Now let’s see how the Lamar chandelier looks in her living room makeover!
“The subtle and elegant combination of black and gold [in the lights] from Savoy House has complimented the color palette and brought in a modern vibe to the entire space,” she says on her blog. Absolutely! It pairs up well with the blue velvet couch, wood accents and the black-and-wood structure of Divya’s incredible DIY’d shelving unit. She made that, y’all! Wow!
Closeup shot time…
Here’s how the living room looked before, too. What a difference!
