It’s fall, so that means it’s time to update the decor in your dining room for the season! From bringing in leaves and natural colors to creating a centerpiece that goes with your chandelier, here are some tips to get a fall-themed dining room that will set the perfect tone for dinner guests (or just everyday meals).
The Centerpiece Sets the Tone
Whether you are going modern or rustic, minimalist or whimsical, the centerpiece on your dining room table will be what sets the tone for the rest of the room. Looking for inspo? Try having it coordinate with your dining room chandeliers. So, for example, a rustic chandelier and a rustic centerpiece would be a perfect pair. But, contrasting an elegant chandelier with a rustic centerpiece would look great too.
If you are going for a contrast, the key is finding common ground so that the look is still cohesive. The colors in the room are also important. If your room has gold and white touches, then try a centerpiece featuring pumpkins or decor pieces in those same colors.
Look for Natural Colors
Speaking of colors, look for colors you can find in nature during fall. Reds, oranges, yellows, golds and browns are all common. However, you can also add a cooler color to have the natural colors play off of, such as blue or green. Blue, for example, works well with oranges and earth tones, making it the perfect complement. (After all, there are blue-green pumpkins out there!)
Rustic Farmhouse Look
Rustic farmhouse decor is a terrific way to bring fall vibes into your dining room! Natural touches like corn husks, hay bales and pumpkins are a must. Add in a chalkboard, a mason jar vase with seasonal flowers, pinecones and wicker baskets for an even more beautifully layered look. You might even be able to find some of these decor items for free just by looking in your backyard!
Pumpkins and Leaves
Filling a small vase with leaves, decorating the centerpiece with leaves and stacking pumpkins on the sidebar are all common ways to bring nature into your dining room for autumn. There’s also plenty of decorative pumpkins and leaves on the market, in case you’re not looking to use the real deal or can’t find any in your area.
Candles for Ambiance
Finally, add some candles for a warm and inviting glow. Using candles along with the other lights in your dining room is a great way to vary your lighting levels as needed for whatever situations you may find yourself in this fall.
